Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom.

Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfieldmovie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.

Electrolyte water tastes as bland as my soul feels.”

I got sent this book from a publisher but it does not change my opinion of the book in any way.

Geekerella is a geeky, original and hilarious cinderella retelling! I absolutely loved this book. Everything Ashley wrote was just perfect and it was one of those books that hooks you from the beginning and all the way through! I couldn’t put it down!

“She reaches out to take the jacket. I hesitate for a moment, like Frodo with his Ring, but then I remember ow much crap Frodo walked into and I’d rather not end up like Frodo. So I give it to Sage.”
― Ashley Poston, Geekerella

The characters were just amazing and I love how they’re into fandoms and con’s like many of us bookworms are too! The way Elle and Darien fell in love was just breathtaking! They didn’t have instal-love which was a plus and it started off through anonymously texting each other which was such a unique way to start a romance! One of my favourite parts of the book was before Elle and Darien hadn’t met yet and Sage called Darien on Elle’s phone and it was so hilarious the way Elle reacted!

So Geekerella is obviously a retelling of Cinderella but it is such an original retelling! There are so many retellings but somehow Ashley created an original retelling and managed to still surprise me in places and hit me right in the feels!! I love how it was hilarious and Ashley’s writing was amazing!

I recommend Geekerella to everyone!

Thank you so much for reading!!
